About Soba Ichi
First come first served. Dine in for walk-ins only. Counter service.
Soba Ichi is a noodle shop in Oakland, California. It is listed at 2311A Magnolia St, Oakland, CA 94607, which places it among the local businesses of Oakland that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
These businesses tend to have short hours built around lunch and early dinner rather than late-night service, so checking the listed hours before heading out in Oakland saves a wasted trip. Seating is often limited or first-come, and many locations lean toward takeout or delivery rather than dining in. Prices are generally lower than full-service restaurants in the same category, which makes this group a reliable option for a fast, inexpensive meal across California. Portions can be smaller at food-court counters than at a stand-alone restaurant, so ordering two items is common for a full meal. Many of these businesses are independently owned even inside a shared food hall, so hours, accepted payment methods and whether a counter takes online orders can differ from stall to stall within the same building.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 5β9 pm. It is closed on Tuesday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Soba Ichi at (510) 465-1969; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, sobaichioakland.com.
Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 654 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded noodle shops in Oakland.
Oakland is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Oakland is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I got the duck last time and was seriously disappointed. Got the tenpura one this time and completely different story. Flavor is incredible especially with the chili flakes they give you. The wasabi salt is a great dipper for the tempura! Now we are hooked!

Iβve never been wowed by soba and this place hasnβt changed that lol. Even though they make the noodles in house, the noodles taste about the same. The broth was a very plain dashing broth. I did really like the duck though! But it also took very long for the food to arrive (waited over 30 minutes for the noodles). I wouldnβt go out of my way to drive here unless youβre a big soba fan.

This was a great experience for us. The restaurant is in a rough looking neighborhood and parking was quite difficult as there is only street parking available. The restaurant has a few booths inside for small parties and a large garden patio with benches for larger parties. We had dinner on a Sunday evening and had a relatively short wait. We ordered both the cold and hot soba as well as the smoked duck breast. The duck was superbly done served chilled, the soba was out of this world. You can tell there was a lot of Care that went into the making of the noodles. Each bite breaks cleanly through the bouncy soba. If you have the opportunity to share in this experience I strongly suggest you make your way there.

Loved everything! First time experiencing this hidden gem spot! HOWEVER, I couldnβt give it 4 stars because the veggies really need an extra wash β unfortunately, the fresh salad and the vegetables in the veggie soba still have a sandy taste. Other than that, I give 2 stars to the restaurant staff whoβs very friendly and helpful!

I really liked their cold soba with dipping sauce and garnishes, along with shrimp and kabocha tempura. The noodles had a nice chewiness and leaned toward a firmer side, which I enjoyed. The tempura was light, crispy, and not greasy. Highly recommended!
